VETERANS JOB CLEARINGHOUSE

Clients: U.S. Department of Labor and Veterans’ Employment and Training Service

Project Overview: The Veterans’ Job Clearinghouse is a central online resource created by the U.S. Department of Labor to help federal contractors comply with the Public Law 107-288, the "Jobs For Veterans Act".  This law requires that any employer receiving federal contracts in the amount $100,000 or more, shall immediately list all of its employment openings with appropriate job service delivery systems.

Accomplishments: To help the federal contractors comply with Public Law 107-288, XPAND Corporation planned and developed a sophisticated job order distributed system that remotely integrates with the existing America’s Job Bank database via a transparent Proxy and SOAP/XML based Web Service. The system automatically identifies the closest Veterans counselor or One-Stop office for each submitted job order using an integrated Geographic Information Systems and distributes the job orders via email or dynamic fax as appropriate.

In building the Veterans’ Job Clearinghouse, XPAND successfully coordinated the interests of multiple stakeholders, including the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, and the Employment and Training Administration.
