XPAND SofTouch Fingerprint Verification & Access Control System - October 8, 2004

News Release

Reston, Virginia - OCTOBER 8, 2004:

The SofTouch™ system is an integrated hardware, firmware, and software solution to large-scale biometric security needs. The system consists of a family of compact fingerprint readers ("units") networked to one or more servers and browser based control centers. The SofTouch™ units are based on XPAND developed control and network firmware with OEM biometric sensors. The SoftView™ Web-based server software supports the establishment of a distributed System Operations Center for managing users and units. SoftView™ is IP based, using standard secure protocols and runs on commercially available Intel platform.

All components of the system were developed in the United States. US government clients will be served by US based production facilities, while commercial and international clients may use offshore production facilities.

The system is designed to provide exceptional flexibility for large-scale verification (1-to-1), access control, tracking and monitoring applications.

Benefits

  • IP-based network provides an unlimited geographic footprint. Units can be installed and controlled worldwide.
  • Multi-level hierarchy for control and monitoring with support for centralized, federated, or fully distributed policies.
  • System can scale to multiple servers and thousands of units.
  • Secure AES and SSL-based encryption for all network communication.
  • Tolerant of network and power outages.
  • Can be configuredto require 2 or more simultaneous finger touches in separate fingerprint readers for facility user and remote security personnel. Readers can be hundreds or thousands of miles apart.
  • Compatible with any distribution of controlled facilities and system topology.
  • Units can also be configured to operate in conjunction with a secondary access code (PIN).
  • Real-time dashboard for monitoring the status of any door in any facility, displays alerts of doors left open, and warnings about inaccessible units, and access statistics for any segment of the system.
  • Personnel in System Operations Center can force open or disable any unit in the system.
